W/Me Sskai Sword Farming
I know that there is a Grenth's Balance Build that works against this boss, but honestly I think it takes way too long, and for me I find it very hard since I have not used a grenths balance solo build before.
I basically took the same concept from farming assassin bosses with a warrior and applied it to this, and added a domination skill to shutdown his healing sig. Here are the skills and attributes.
Domination: 10
Strength: 9 (8+1)
Tactics: 14 (12+1+1) <-- Ascalon Helm
Nothing in Swordsmanship, +30 Health Sword and Shield (590 Health +)
Armor doesnt matter but would prefer gladiators for the +energy, just have 80+ armor per piece, Superior Absorbtion, Superior Vigor.
Here is where the boss is located:
Here is the sword he drops:
Tactics:
- Sprint your way to his location
- Check to see if he has sword, if not rezone and repeat(works for me)
- Pull him with a longbow from the group
- Put up Auspicious then Ignorance him as soon as he gets to you, then put up Dolyaks & Deadly, and keep repeating Riposte and Auspicious
- Heal only when you have a Ripose/Auspicious up as well as dolyaks
- Use Ignorance when you have 15 energy, so try only to use deadly riposte at beggining and near the end when he has little health to kill quick
- Keep dolyak up as much as possible
- Pick up your green item and repeat
Notes:
Like I said, looking at his hand to see which sword he has has helped me. Everytime he has wielded his sword he has dropped it for me. Usually he is wielding a katana I believe, and I will rezone and run out to his location again until I see him wielding his own sword.
I find this build to be much easier to run than grenths, and a hell of a lot quicker to kill him.

nice idea with ignorance. Since you already have domination in there you can add empathy also for the extra 23 dmg each time he attacks. just drop sprint since you don't need that skill. with a zealous wep you should be ok with energy on this....i think. =) i'll have to try it out later today.

Nice! Glad to see you can do it. I've been farting around with a similar build with no luck. Sounds like I have to give up on having any points in swords.

I seen a W/Me build that involved mesmer elite - signet of midnight
so I tried it out and added ingorance as well the skills i use are:
Signet of Midnight - Elite
Spirit of Failure -
Igorance
Empathy
Deadly Riposte
Ether Feast
Sprint
Heal Signet
Sprint to boss and pull him with longbow - i find this to be a pain half the time
first cast midnight and right before it ends cast again... you and boss will always be blinded but you arent attack anyways
cast spirit of failure to gain energy almost everytime he attacks...
then put empathy on him and cast deadly riposte when u have the energy.. always be aware of when signet of midnight will end... also once u start dealing damage you must continue to cast ignorance so he doesnt heal himself. spirit of failure will last 30 seconds but cannot run out or you'll be waiting for energy while he heals
heal signet and ether feast are just to gain health
he seems to hit me a bit while blind... and it hurts i like having full health
if u keep using deadly riposte... with empathy
he kills himself in a couple minutes

The only problem with taking another spell, such as empathy, is you are already using two skills that use energy(Deadly Riposte + Ignorance), one of which costs 15e and you will need to use it 2-3 times at least to kill the guy. That is too much to ask for a warrior to spend a 15e skill and a 10e skill at least 2-3 times each to kill the boss.

I am sure there are other builds other than mine that will work just fine. I am sure yours will work too, but the whole point of centering the build around Ignorance and Auspicious Parry is to shut down the healing sig, and be able to spam 2 skills over and over again in order to kill a boss very quick (under 30 seconds sometimes) and with minimal ease.

1. Keep Dolyaks Up whenever it recharges
2. Bind Riposte and Auspicious Parry to hot keys, and repeadidly hit them in nor particular order, just spam them it doesnt matter.
3. Heal every 5-7 seconds
4. Deadly Riposte at least twice
5. Manage energy enough to do ignorance at least 2-3 times
This should take no longer than 1 minute to kill him. I have done it as fast as 30 seconds.

A quick noobish question, what are the group requirements for a green to drop. I did this solo with your build (tyvm by the way) with him holding the sword and it didn't drop. Do I need 3+ members? Thank you.
edit - I've killed him THREE times while he was holding that sword now.. and no drop, it took like 60 runs in and out.. grr, will somebody clerify this for me?

Lol it is definitely 1337 . I tried this farming w/ the first W/Me build and couldn't get the hang of it. Then i tried ur build and on the first drop i got a sword . The hardest part isn't killing him but pulling him away from his buddies.

To those seeing Sskai's sword in his hand and not getting drops, I am sorry. It has been a worthy system for me since it has worked everytime.
Also I do not know how many times you can do this until the anti-farming code kicks in nor do I know it's mechanics.

Oye this is enfuriating. At first I could kill him fine with this build, with my practice runs, but then when he really has the sword I just cant kill him, he over powers me. He's not hitting me when im using heal sig, I almost always have doylak signet up, I'm pressing 1 and 2 over and over again, I'm using ignorance as much as possible, and yet he still kills me. Why game why?

I go the route w/ just killing him w/ 100% success rate w/o heal sig and w/ kill w/in 40sec - 2min, its a modification of the old W/N build, but it works much more beautifully. Oh and you need sprint just incase he has the sword and a stupid mob patrols by and you gotta escape, also avoiding the onis and kraken.
Reposte
Deadly resposte
Enfeeble
Dolyak
sprint
Bonettis
Grenth's balance
Endure Pain
Basic strat, pull him, cast enfeeble to substancially lower his DPS, use deadly and dolyak and wait for him to spam distracting blow and work your way from there. The Lack of healing means you dont gamble w/ heal sig and getting close to 200hp dmg if his unavoidable attacks get through. Also makes the job alot faster. enfeeble last 15 seconds w/ 6 curses, you also end up using all your att pts. WHen you get to 100hp or close to that or below, use GB, rinse repeat until you can no longer get HP from him then use EP, then just kill him w/ reposte/deadly. I never fail w/ this build and I even solo oni as along as they come 1 on 1, 2 on 1 I may kill 1 and die ^^ but I can always do my ONI build.
